5 Great Reasons to Love LSL Photo Books
Using handmade and custom photo books in our LSL play.
Our team suggested using inexpensive photo albums to make photobooks!
DIY photobooks can be helpful for a variety of LSL skills.
Familiar Face and Name Recognition
Photo books featuring pics of family members and friends provide the opportunity to practice names, and saying hello! This makes social visits easier.
We also want to make one of People Around Town, using photos of some friends she's made in our every day routines. The butcher, the baker, the candlestick maker... or the modern day equivalents. The restaurant owner who comes out to say hello, the grocery worker, the local firemen.
Reinforcing and Discussing Routines
Morning routines, nightly routines, bath time, meal time, park adventures, and doctors visits can be made into books!
The books offer the opportunity to discuss the routines in a quiet, pressure-free setting.
Focusing on a Certain Sound
Making a "T" themed book, for example, can reinforce that sound. We'd put in pictures or flashcards of trees, a teapot, tulips, etc.
Specific Vocabulary
If there are certain words that need some work, outside the usual book vocabulary, a custom photo book can fill that gap.
